Abstract

Universities and Colleges are utilizing virtual worlds such as Secondlife in increasing numbers worldwide. Virtual Worlds also contribute to access to knowledge and the economic development of countries. The capacity for continued utilization and development of virtual worlds is influenced by government policy and investment.

Kate Roth, Macquarie University

Kate Roth is currently Special Projects Manager for Macquarie International in Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. Kate was formerly Director International Education at Monash University and Senior Executive Officer for the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Development and International) at University of Western Sydney. Kate graduated from the University of New South Wales with a Bachelor of Social Science with a major in Economics and the Australian National University with a Master of Commerce. Kate is enrolled in a Research Degree at Monash University.
